Case study · Custom fabrication, Chicago

TaserDesigns: a fabrication website the owner runs from one portal

A custom fabrication and exhibit shop had an outdated site and no single place to track its work. We rebuilt the site and gave the owner a portal to run it.

TaserDesigns homepage, a custom fabrication website built by Blueframe

The problem

The website was outdated, and the owner had nowhere to manage his projects. Past, current, and upcoming builds and exhibits, his customers, and the work he wanted to show lived in different places, or nowhere.

What we built

  • A new website for custom fabrication and exhibit builds, with a portfolio of past work
  • An owner portal that organizes past, current, and future builds and exhibits in one place
  • Customer records kept alongside the projects they belong to
  • A client portal where customers follow their jobs, see progress photos, and approve work in one thread
  • Site content managed from the portal, so updates go live without touching code

Built over a couple of months.

TaserDesigns owner portal: a grid of projects tagged exhibit builds or custom fabrication, each marked visible with a hide button
The owner portal: every project sorted into exhibit builds or custom fabrication, and shown or hidden on the site from here.
TaserDesigns customer record: company, contact details, category, and the customer's active and completed jobs
Each customer record holds their contact details and every job, active or completed.
TaserDesigns client portal: a project thread where the shop posts an install photo and the customer approves the work
The client portal: customers follow their job, see progress photos, and approve work in one thread.
