AI phone ordering for restaurants
A ringing phone in the middle of a rush means someone stops what they're doing to write an order down. We built a phone line that answers carry-out calls and takes the order, then puts it on a staff screen to check before it reaches the kitchen.
How phone orders work
- Carry-out calls are answered automatically, and the order is taken over the phone
- Each order lands on the staff carry-out screen with the caller's name, phone number, and notes like a pickup time
- Staff review every phone order before it goes to the kitchen, so nothing reaches the line unchecked
- From there it is a normal check: send it to the kitchen, mark it ready, and the status moves from received to in the kitchen to ready for pickup
- Callers can check on their order from your website with their phone number
- Phone orders sit in the same carry-out list as walk-in and delivery-app orders
Built for a real restaurant
We built this for Royal Cantonese, the family restaurant in Mundelein where Blueframe's founder grew up working, as part of a full rebuild of its ordering. The restaurant has since closed. The screens below use test orders.

How a project runs
Step 1
Free scope review
We look at how work moves through your business today and agree on a fixed scope, price, and timeline before any code is written.
Step 2
Build in 2 to 4 weeks
We build in a fixed window. You see progress every week, and the scope doesn't drift.
Step 3
Launch and tune
We launch, walk your team through it, and tune it through the first weeks of real use.
Questions owners ask
- Does the order go straight to the kitchen?
- No. Every phone order waits on the carry-out screen until someone on staff checks it and sends it, so a misheard order gets caught at the counter, not on the line.
- What phone service does it run on?
- Royal Cantonese's line ran on Telnyx, which took the call and sent the order to the staff screen. We set up the phone side as part of the build.
- Can it work with the point of sale I already have?
- At Royal Cantonese it fed the point of sale we built. Whether it can feed yours depends on how your POS takes outside orders, and we check that in the free scope review.
